PAS wants Muslims to unite, ensure two-thirds majority in Dewan Rakyat
PAS has urged Muslims to unite and ensure that two-thirds of the members in the Dewan Rakyat are Muslim to strengthen political Islam.
It's information chief Nasrudin Hassan said that it was necessary for Muslims to unite to restore their sense of dignity.
"Political Islam should be strengthened and the voices of Islam need to be the two-thirds majority in Parliament.
"Although the top leaders are Muslims, we are still weak and we are insulted on our own soil," the Temerloh MP claimed in a statement today.
He also claimed that the dire state of Muslim affairs today was happening despite Islam being recognised as the religion of the federation and that Muslims make up the majority of the country's population.
Nasrudin, as such, said that Muslims should rise from their "long slumber" and get out of their comfort zone and ensure that their voices are heard.
Checks by Malaysiakini revealed there are at least 135 Muslim MPs in the Dewan Rakyat, or 61 percent of the total 222 MPs, currently.
Nasrudin's call for a supermajority Muslim bloc is a far cry from the party's "PAS for all" agenda during the past two general elections.
PAS had recently severed ties with PKR and planned to contest at least 100 Parliamentary seats nationwide.
