After visit to Rohingya camps, MP wants gov't pressure on Myanmar

A DAP lawmaker has called on Putrajaya to pressure the Myanmar government into dragging the country's military to court for the atrocities they reportedly committed against the Rohingya.

Moved by the harrowing tales from Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, which is located near the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, Klang MP Charles Santiago said Asean should not take the issue lightly and castigate the Myanmar government, especially its military.

He also said Putrajaya should urge Myanmar to meet the demands of Rohingya refugees. They include deploying an international peacekeeping force in Rakhine state as well as compensation for loss of property and land...
