COMMENT | A royal statement by the Pahang palace, dated July 7, 2021, calls for exploring the possibilities of gazetting a 500m strip of land along the Pahang border as forest reserves.

An unbroken line of natural forest creates conservation benefits. Large mammals such as the Malayan tigers, Asian elephants and tapirs need large connected forests to roam and forage for food.
