A lion dance team performs outside Pavilion shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur.

Performers mimic a lion's movements in costumes meant to bring good luck and fortune.

The lion dance is usually performed during the lunar New Year and other Chinese traditional, cultural and religious festivals.

The local Chinese community has kicked off preparations for the 15-day festive season, with Chinese New Year just over two weeks away.
