With rising global sustainability expectations, industries are increasingly prioritising the reduction of carbon emissions, optimising the use of natural resources, minimising landfill dependency, and strengthening their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments. Conventional waste treatment methods such as landfilling and incineration are no longer viewed as sustainable long-term solutions due to concerns over greenhouse gas emissions, environmental risks, and residual waste generation. In response to these challenges, circular economy practices are increasingly being adopted globally to transform waste materials into valuable resources that can be reused within industrial supply chains.

At the forefront of this transformation in Malaysia is Amita Naza Sdn Bhd (ANSB), a pioneering company committed to redefining scheduled waste management through advanced co-processing technology and sustainable industrial recycling practices. Established as a joint venture between Amita Corporation Japan and Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn. Bhd., ANSB integrates Japanese technological expertise with local industrial knowledge to provide sustainable and innovative waste recycling solutions that align with Malaysia’s Green Industry Strategic Plan and circular economy agenda.

Licensed by the Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia under the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) 1974, ANSB is authorised to receive, transport, and manage scheduled waste throughout Peninsular Malaysia. The company specialises in converting scheduled waste into Alternative Raw Material (ARM) and Alternative Fuel (AF) for the cement manufacturing industry through a highly efficient co-processing system that achieves 100% recycling with zero residues.

ANSB is approved by the DOE to treat 15 codes of scheduled wastes under the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005. Beyond recycling operations, the company also provides licensed scheduled waste transportation services to industrial clients throughout Malaysia. Its fleet of trucks are capable of collecting scheduled waste in jumbo bags, steel drums, containers, and bulk loads while complying fully with environmental safety regulations. By engaging ANSB’s services, clients benefit from competitive tipping fees compared to conventional disposal methods, complete recycling without residue, and enhanced ESG and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance through environmentally responsible waste treatment practices.

Driving Circular Economy Through Cradle-to-Cradle Recycling Approach

Unlike conventional waste disposal methods that often create environmental liabilities, ANSB adopts a cradle-to-cradle recycling approach that transforms scheduled waste into valuable industrial resources. Through its proprietary Smart Blending Technology from Japan, scheduled waste materials are analysed, stabilised, homogenised, and safely processed according to the Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) prescribed under the DOE’s Guidelines on Environmentally Sound Co-processing of Scheduled Wastes in the Cement Industry.

Through this process, scheduled waste is turned into:

  • Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) as replacement for natural resources such as clay and limestone in cement manufacturing.

  • Alternative Fuel (AF) as a replacement for fossil fuels such as coal.

This cradle-to-cradle recycling approach supports circular economy synergies by converting industrial waste into valuable resources rather than disposing of it as an environmental liability.

One of the most significant advantages of ANSB’s technology is its environmentally friendly operational model. The recycling process does not involve the use of chemicals, additives, water, or heat treatment and produces no effluent discharge or residual waste by-products. Instead, all materials are safely turned into useful resources, making the process one of the most sustainable scheduled waste recycling technologies in Malaysia today.

Significant Environmental Contributions

Since commencing operations, ANSB has demonstrated measurable environmental contributions that support Malaysia’s low-carbon and circular economy aspirations.

As of February 2026, ANSB has successfully:

  • Recycled more than 280,000 metric tonnes of scheduled waste through cradle-to-cradle recycling.

  • Achieved over 54,000 tCO2e in carbon reduction.

  • Avoided carbon emissions equivalent to 23.4 million litres of gasoline.

  • Contributed carbon sequestration equivalent to 18,000 hectares of mature forest.

  • Replaced approximately 280,000 metric tonnes of natural resources for cement co-processing.

  • Saved more than 420,000 cubic meters of landfill airspace.

These achievements demonstrate how industrial waste can be transformed into useful resources while significantly reducing dependence on natural resources and minimising landfill disposal.

Sustainable Alternative to Conventional Waste Treatment

Co-processing is widely recognised as a sustainable alternative to incineration and landfilling. Unlike incineration, which typically produces ash residue that still requires disposal, co-processing allows the mineral content of waste materials to become part of the cement clinker structure, resulting in virtually no residual waste. The extremely high temperatures within cement kilns also ensure the complete destruction of organic contaminants in a safe and controlled environment.

ANSB operates in full compliance with:

  • Environmental Quality Act 1974, Malaysia

  • DOE Guidelines on Environmentally Sound Co-processing of Scheduled Wastes in Cement Industry

  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System

  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

  • ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System

  • Malaysia’s MyHIJAU Mark certification

  • 5S workplace management practices

These certifications and compliance standards reflect ANSB’s strong commitment to operational excellence, workplace safety, environmental protection, and continuous improvement.

Supporting Malaysia’s ESG and Sustainability Agenda

Beyond operational excellence, ANSB recognises the value of strategic collaboration, industry awareness, and continuous innovation in driving sustainable waste management solutions. The company remains committed to supporting industries in strengthening environmental compliance while assisting businesses in meeting sustainability targets and ESG commitments.

As Malaysia progresses toward a greener and more resource-efficient economy, sustainable waste recycling solutions will continue to play a critical role in industrial transformation. Through advanced Japanese technology, strategic collaboration, and a strong commitment to circular economy principles, ANSB continues to redefine how scheduled waste is managed and transformed into valuable industrial resources.

ANSB demonstrates that scheduled waste is not merely a disposal challenge but a valuable resource that can be reintegrated into industrial systems to reduce environmental impact and support long-term sustainability.
