I refer to the letter Will Umno assembly bring about a new hope?

Hoping that the Umno assembly will bring about a new hope is a false hope. All should know by now that Umno is incapable of change and when I read of the contrary, it makes me sad that Malaysians instead of working for change are pleading for what is rightfully theirs.

Umno will not and cannot change, period. But it can shortchange the rakyat . Some people are like a hungry ghost with a voracious appetite and will not change for anything except money. That is why their leaders warn against money politics but it is another case of ‘do what I say but don't do what I do’.

Najib Abdul Razak has again spoken of the need to change but why? Are they now admitting they have done wrong? If you are doing okay why do you need to change? But don't be fooled. It is all cakap . And only the bodoh will believe in false promises.

They keep talking about change and get confused and think that they have changed simply by repeating the idea. As one writer wrote and I agree: ‘It will take a miracle for Umno to reform for the better as they seem to have more devils than angels in the party.’

In case people say I am talking nonsense that Umno will not change, consider the facts:

1. Pak Abdullah promised reforms but didn’t deliver. Even some of his good deeds are half-baked. Okay, there was the police royal commission but where is the IPCMC? Pak Lah is a leader of half-measures, measures with no head and no tail. I am not sorry to see him go.

Then when close to finishing work he says he has a lot to do. Unbelievable. If he has so much unfinished business why leave at half-time? He is (was) a half-time leader and incapable of delivering.

2. So Abdullah got in Zaid Ibrahim, the Transformer. He was the brightest hope of Umno reform but in the end, he also gave up. But at least he has not given up totally and now will join another party.

This is the sort of leader we want, one who is not afraid and will not give up easily like Pak Lah. Seeing Pak Lah smile and back Brutus, the one who knifed him front and back and side, made me feel sick.

3. Hishamuddin Hussein, ex-Umno Youth and the leader of the future is a bad role model for Malaysians and a disgrace. Why must he always act like he is facing a troop of wild monkeys that he has to outdo them and act so intimidating? Who is he trying to scare?

Those who use their political party's assembly to rant against others only show their shallow character and don't deserve to be our leaders. His attack on other Malays calling them ‘traitors’ shows his own treachery.

4. There are good Umno members who are sincere and want reform but they are sidelined. Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah is one such good Umno member who speaks the language of the rakyat but he has no power to change the leadership.

Umno will never change because if they are serious about change, they would have put the good and sincere ones in charge of change. So why should Umno change? We’d be fools to believe any of this talk about change and reform. If Umno wants to change then do the following:

1. Don't interfere in the police, judiciary and other government departments. Let them do their work properly without fear or favour.

2. Free the media. Let the reporters do their job and stop giving directives to media owners and editors. Stop censoring the news.

3. Let the MACC report to Parliament and let the its director too answer to Parliament.

4. Call for an early general election to prove Najib has the mandate of the rakyat to lead the nation.

5. Hold a royal commission for the Altantuya case

If Umno is sincere and serious about reform and change then start changing not just keep talking about it. The rakyat should demand for change not beg for change. The rakyat are not beggars but the bosses of the politicians who are there to do what the rakyat want - they are not there to please themselves and think they are above the rakyat .

Umno must begin to change its attitude or the rakyat will kick it out of government. The rakyat must also change their attitude. This is their country and not Umno's and the sooner the races realise this the better it will be for everyone.

The politicians are only helping themselves in our name and our real enemy are corrupt politicians who stir up racial feelings so that they can hide their selfish activities.
