I refer to the Malaysiakini report Najib ready to talks with Pakatan.
Though this appears to be a good sign, what is most important to conclude and be in agreement with is that the rakyat should be given the legitimate right to elect the government of their choice.
Anything short of this will be like beating around the bush and will push the crisis further into an abyss.
If the rakyat's interest are ignored in any discussion and it focuses solely on party's interests and requirements, then it is a futile effort or will be seen as just finding a way to move out of the core issue.
It has been reported that the present PM was seen to have masterminded the 'seize' of power in Perak and the sacking of the previous government elected by the rakyat.
The PM thus could put to rest any rumours or sentiments to that effect by asking for a dissolution of the Perak state assembly and calling for a fresh election.
The current situation is something that no Malaysian can take pride in. It is not a time to point fingers at each other and try to defend and justify one's actions.
This situation should also not be used as a platform to seek absolution and push the ball to somebody else's court. What should be decided is to put forward recommendations to call for a fresh elections in the state.
If this cannot be the main focal point of the talks then please do not waste your time and make a total mockery of the whole situation.
Perak is a divided state at present and if a general poll of what the rakyat wants is taken, the result will most likely be in favour of a snap election in order to put to decide on the legitimate government of Perak once and for all.
Once this is done then Perak can then move forward and work as a well-oiled machinery to re-build and bring continued progress to the state.
Many remarks and statements to defend the BN takeover of the Perak government are worsening the situation as the reasons given are seen to in contradictory to the rule by law without any respect for the elected leaders.
it is also seen as an enforcement of authority at whatever cost with the ensuring detrimental effects.
What we, the rakyat, need is an assurance that democracy is well and alive and is fully practised in Malaysia with anyone and whoever having the popular support ruling the state or country.
We have been a model of a democratic process that enshrines the freedom to choose the government of the people, by the people.
All these are questionable today with what has happened in Perak which can also serve as a precedent for more of such occurrences in the near future.
Let us not deteriorate and destroy our the democratic process of the rule of law.
and federal government take note of the seriousness of losing natural forest covers.
