I refer to the Malaysiakini report Kedah PKR, DAP told to abandon PAS.
Firstly, I would like to say that a lot of people in Kedah are facing problems after PAS took over Kedah. I am not using the term Pakatan Rakyat as almost everything in Kedah is dominated by PAS.
It is a known fact in Kedah that a lot of people are not happy with PAS in Kedah, including people from DAP. There have been so many responses from readers which have condemned PAS in Kedah.
In last general elections, PAS came to Sungai Petani with their slogan ‘PAS for All’. But as everyone in Kedah already realises, the actual meaning of the slogan is ‘PAS for All People in PAS Only’. They purposely left out the last few words.
I was caught by suprise when I heard last year that DAP is going to work with PAS. I already foresaw in my crystal ball that it is going to be a failure as both parties have totally different party ideologies.
PAS wants to have an Islamic state and DAP is against it. But because of Umno, people thought why not give it a try. But I think a lot of people, including me and my friends, are feeling betrayed by PAS and even by DAP and PKR..
As was reported, the Gerakan Youth chief of Kedah, Tan Keng Liang, has asked DAP and PKR to snub PAS. I think a lot of people in Kedah share the same view with Tan, who is one of the few remaining firebrand-type of leaders in Gerakan.
However, a few days ago, I also read a report headlined ‘MB Kedah said ‘Ketua Pemuda Gerakan ketinggalan zaman’. I believe that his response must have been directed to the above Malaysiakini report on Kedah which really hit out hard at the PAS-led administration in Kedah.
The Kedah menteri besar claims that the invitation for PKR and DAP to cooperate with BN is outdated because the trend is for people to join PAS and Pakatan Rakyat.
I think the Kedah menteri besar’s statement is rubbish. Why should he just single out that PAS is more popular? How about PKR and DAP?
And he went on to say: ‘[...] yang tidak adil adalah kerajaan BN sebelum ini yang telah meluluskan tanah rezab Melayu untuk projek perumahan tetapi menetapkan hanya 20 peratus sahaja kouta untuk orang Melayu’.
The Kedah MB’s statement only makes the people more angry. Is PAS just going to champion Malay rights in Kedah? Is increasing the bumiputera housing quota to 50% a fair move?
Anyway, I think Kedah MB is digging Pakatan Rakyat’s grave in Kedah by making more such statements in public.
I just feel sorry for DAP and PKR (I voted for PKR and PAS the last time. Lots of regrets now but people do make mistakes).
