When the oppressed are backed into a corner like a wild animal, don't ever let your guard down. It is in such situations that encourage retaliation. Unjust kings or governments invite retaliation. This has been proven in history. Now Utusan Malaysia thinks non-Malays want more than freedom and justice?

I do not believe we have even past the "freedom and justice" milestone. I am quite glad there are some people with the likes of Zaid Ibrahim, Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang, and Hadi Awang who speak up for the oppressed and against injustices.

Trust me when I say non-Malays do not envy the Malays as what Utusan would like to paint. We do not hunger for power. If every single ruler, administrator, government servants perform their duties up to par, I don't even care if they are Malays. We look at equal opportunities.

Sad to say (Utusan nor DPM Muhyiddin Yassin won't admit this), a generation of non-Malays were deprived of chances through legitimised apartheid-like system aka NEP and Ketuanan Melayu. If Umno or any Malays think all this is fair, they should put themselves in the shoes of non-Malays. I am very glad we have "traitors" to the Malay race like Anwar Ibrahim, who are not traitors to the true meaning of Islam.

A generation has passed by. Nothing has changed except for a few Umnoputras who have managed to enriched themselves, leaving the general masses still craving for a better life. Race relations has worsened to a point of being superficially successful. When I was younger, I had many Malay friends. Sad to say, I don't have that many now.

It's simply due to lack of one factor that explains everything - equality. I don't bear any grudges. There are times when I have helped Malays when they are race-blind. As selfish as I am, I will not help any who still use race to incite fear and suspicion (majority of these come from Umno and their policies, and Ketuanan Melayu indoctrination).

Malaysians should really ask why is it the contention is always put forth as Malays versus non-Malays? How come it's not Chinese and Malays against the Indians, or Indians and Malays vs Chinese? The saying goes, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Non-Malays are not even trying to gang up. Being on the same boat, Chinese, Indians and other non-Malays only have each other to depend on.

One day - and I hope in my lifetime - the majority Malay population will understand that non-Malays seek equality. Don't ever think non-Malays are here to suppress their social mobility. We help whoever who wants to be helped. I have always tried to impart social responsibilities while I work. I teach and guide my students with only a simple message - "Make sure you do the same for others in future".
