Selamat Hari Raya. Save up your duit raya. Prime Minister might announce 1Malaysia Space Shuttle Program soon.

I am totally shocked to read the 1Malaysia goes F1 buzz. Why on earth do we need a ‘national' F1 team? I thought we already have such patriotic sentments portrayed in the A1 race.

Last year Honda and recently BMW announced that they would quit F1 for financial reasons. Bear in mind that they have sound automotive technology, R&D and the experience. Have you ever heard of BMW or Honda cars having power window problem like my Proton Wira?

So far we don't have any ‘national' F1 team. Force India is privately owned and not a public funded entity. So don't compare it with 1Malaysia F1. Also what is this partnership ratio like? Consortium of Malaysian Entrepreneurs 30% and the rest is taxpayer's money? Why is our prime minister not revealing the agreement?

Though the crazy Middle East is investing big in football clubs around Europe, no one is busy building their own F1. Bahrain (where I am based now) has a F1 circuit but I am sure with their wealth they can own even more than one F1 team but no. They don't have an F1 Team.

Talking about Bahrain, the population of this tiny island is less than 1 million. Yet they are two matches away from World Cup 2010. When was the last time we won a gold medal in Sea Games for football? Why can't we invest all the money into developing football, athletics, hockey, swimming, or cricket for god sake? Why F1? The famous words of wisdom in F1 world that I can't forget - money for nothing, chicks for free. Suits Malaysians well, perhaps?

It is not a secret that F1 is the most expensive sport in the world. Yes, it has huge dominance in term of publicity, tourism, glamour and extravagance. But we do have Sepang Circuit for organizing F1 racse and Petronas sponsoring an F1 team to achieve all the above. Where is the need for our own F1? Why can't we invest the money in improving public transportation, public healthcare or tertiary education?

I am confused. Anyway - Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. As I said earlier, save up your duit raya. Pay your tax. 1Malaysia F1 needs your money to burn the fuel and run the cars.

And the F1 replica which was given to Najib as a momento - I hope that is not the final design for the real race car. Even my one-year-old son can do a better job with colouring.
