I refer to the Malaysiakini report PAS VP tells why non-Malays ditched Pakatan .
It is all Hasan Ali from PAS fault for losing this by-election so badly. His push pulling beer out of 7-11stores scared the non-Muslim and the business people. There is nothing wrong with PKR or DAP. It is PAS that has dug its own grave.
Pakatan almost lost Manek Urai due to infighting among their own members. The slim majority was a sign. PAS protests against international artists performing here also made people think that PAS is backward and extreme.
The perception at Bagan Pinang was that a win for PAS was a bad thing.
They should consider self-discipline as a way of practising one's religion. Taking away beer or rejecting sexy artists will not help the people to be morally better or pious.
It may instead make things worse and you will see the collateral damage. The ‘cow head incident’ also saddened the Indians.
Overall, besides being the underdog due to the strength of BN Mohd Isa Samad's reputation, PAS made the situation worse with their own flimsy demands over the past months.
Pakatan Rakyat is good. It is just PAS that is spoiling everything by ‘going solo’ on so many things.
With the offering of Tamil school to the poor Indians and more Chinese temples, voters had nothing to lose in voting for BN in a small town like Port Dickson.
It is not urban centre where development is forced by the environment and the strong voice of the city people. Port Dickson and Bagan Pinang' saw this by-election as the chance of a lifetime to get some development.
