Many politicians can talk and impress an audience at the Umno assembly. There is plenty of hot air now with the usual statements from politicians who seem more interested in seeing their names and photos printed in the media than looking into the welfare of all Malaysians.
Umno Youth head Khairy Jamaluddin has impressed many listeners at the assembly but can he walk the talk with his men? One good thing at this year’s assembly is that nobody carried the ‘keris’ up onto the stage.
The prime minister also gave a good impression of his ‘lMalaysia’ programme. He urged his men in the assembly to change for the better so that Umno could survive for many more years to come.
Having been in the comfort zone for fifty years. it is not easy to heed his advice. It looks like the PM is promoting a ‘lMalaysia alone’. Generally, the people do not see this concept as being practised by the other Umno members.
There is a lot of talk of ‘lMalaysia’ in the media but very little action. Malaysia needs policies which emphasise on needs rather than race.
We wish there will be more politicians from Umno who speak the language of peace and unity. Forget race and help all those who need help most.
Otherwise ‘1Malaysia’ will be just another gimmicky slogan.
