I refer to the Malaysiakini report Palanivel on who’s the real ‘sakhti’.
Suddenly there is strong competition to the MIC's long-standing proprietorship to its claim as the rightful representative of the Indian community in Malaysia.
MIC is feeling the heat with the BN leaders trying whatever means available to gain back lost support from the respective communities in general and Indians in particular. It is no surprise that this new rival party is seen by BN leadership as a strong force to help pull back the Indian votes to BN.
No amount of ‘crybaby tactics’ or basking in the past is going to cause any mass exodus to MIC's fold. MIC had the chance to prove itself as an able, reliable and caring representative of the Indian community.
However, what was seen to have occurred was a reign of terror by a self-claimed ‘ruler’ of the party, surrounded by puppets who are there to do his bidding without any question. The community was neglected except for some spurts of action here and there but only for personal gain and glory.
The power-crazy, old and inept leader in MIC, thinks he owns MIC and that MIC members and all the Indians should continue be his ‘subjects’.
BN sees the MIC as its weakest link and does not expect MIC to get back lost support from tthe community. Like in business, what matters in politics is profit not loss. BN does not want to any longer support a failling venture.
Everyone seems to know that except the power-intoxicated higher MIC echelon.
MIC could be seen to have manipulated its own party results but they cannot control the external factors which are all against them now - even their partners have sounded what can be considered as a warning to change or be left out.
The words of the popular song '’Copacabana’ by Barry Manilow, fits the MIC quite appropriately. ‘When will they ever learn?’
