I refer to the Malaysiakini report EGM 2 cancelled, new date for polls soon .

I would like to give my personal view on the above issue. I'm very concerned about the MCA political tussle between the two factions for the top leadership despite the fact that I'm not a member of MCA or of any political party.

MCA - as a coalition party in BN - should be allowed to resolve their problems on their own. Interference from Umno/BN will do more harm than good.

Umno should give due respect to MCA's constitution and its members. Umno should put themselves in the shoes of MCA to see whether their own members would accept interference from ‘outsiders’ if a leadership crisis were to happen in Umno itself.

If the answer is ‘no’, then Umno/BN should know what to do.

On the other hand, MCA Vice-president Liow Tiong Lai is too impatient and is being used by someone for their own agenda. What is there to fight if he is already a full minister?

Even if Liow wins the MCA president’s post, will he become the deputy prime minister or a senior minister?

The answer is clear enough. To me, fresh party elections are not necessary at all if Liow is willing to accept the ‘Greater Unity Plan’ and can think smartly.

What the MCA leadership should do is to champion for the affairs of the Chinese community and win back their support for the next general election - not fighting for ‘nothing extra’.
