'Their right to be human is non-existent here'

I refer to the Malaysiakini report M'sian transsexual fighting deportation in UK to be punished .

It is very distressing to read that the Malaysian authorities intend to persecute Fatine and prevent her right of movement for a least two years.

I am not sure if Immigration Director-General Abdul Rahman has all the facts with him to make such a predetermination.

He is saying that there is no due process. Just pick up from the deportation order from the UK, it seems.

I sincerely hope that the UK government through its embassy here in Malaysia would seriously review its decision and at least provide asylum for Fatine.

This would allow her time in the UK to sort out her ‘technical’ problem in her unsuccessful attempt in obtaining her UK visa.

The grounds for asylum in UK are provided by the statements of the Immigration DG (‘bringing shame’) which at the outset confirms the kind of discrimination and marginalisation of transsexuals in her country of citizenship.

Transsexuals face constant harassment and are often persecuted in Malaysia. Cross-dressing is an offence under Malaysian laws. Their right to be human is non-existent here.
