I refer to the letter NKRA: Idris Jala may compromise his integrity .

Dear Idris Jala,

By now you would be basking in the ever increasing bouquets bestowed on you by the deprived and depraved citizenry who are so hopeful they will see improvements under your NKRA initiative.

You, and not one of the known sly dog ministers, was chosen for this task perhaps because you are the only minister yet to lose your credibility among the rakyat. So you are like a last hope. For the government and for the rakyat. And bravely have you gone into the fray.

Okay, you have had ‘labs’ churning out platitudes. Ear candies. No great intellectual leap in any of the suggestions. So, why don’t we try to have the proof in the pudding:

Why don’t you, for starters, say how the government, under the ‘Government Transformation Programme’ (GTP) should have handled the Altantuya affair, the submarine purchase, the Lingam Tape scandal, the Teoh Beng Hock death et al.

You know, so that all the implementers of your great new deal will know how to implement it based on case studies. But you cannot because they are sub judice or political, you say?

Well, okay, we’ll give you that. How about if you tell us all how the jet engines went missing? And why after two years, we are just being told about it.

Surely, nothing political or sub judice here. Just an action plan from you on how the GTP will result in less robberies.

See, Idris, platitudes are great and have been the regular spiel of all politicians. Especially if they are for things to be done in the future.

How about doing something tangible for right now. Please.
