I refer to Malaysiakini report ‘Allah’ ruling: Najib be a '1Malaysia PM'.
Before we have more comments from washed-out politicians and those trying to reclaim political advantages with their unworthy remarks, the prime minister - being the supreme leader of the government - should step in and make his stand on this issue.
This bearing in mind that it does not in anyway contradict his '1Malaysia' vision for the nation. As a prime minister, we expect him to lead from the front and not from the rear.
This issue is a double-sided sword for which there is no winner or loser. It is a matter of whose religion is the most tolerant to lead the way towards better understanding and acceptance of a situation that can easily go offhand and create havoc. Today, we see a lot of differences and turmoil even among people of the same faith and this is indeed very puzzling.
Sometimes common sense has to give way to calm an already volatile situation and usually we look to religion to provide this peace and a right direction that will not cause trouble and discontent.
I speak up because I care for this nation of my birth and I do not wish to see it split between the devil and the deep blue sea. So we have to ask ourselves seriously - is all this all really worth the focus and attention when there are more pressing and urgent issues facing this nation?
If politicians who are supposed to lead by good example cannot offer good advice, then they should just shut up and not try to stir the hornets' nest by their one-sided and narrowminded comments that only aggravate - not help - the tense situation.
God does not make the rules on Earth, it is Man who does it and Man's decisions that ultimately set the blueprints and destiny for religion, good or bad, Finally, how far are we willing go and at what cost? Is it really worth it? I rest my case.
