If Umno-led Barisan Nasional succeeds in their endeavour in ratcheting up the 'Allah' issue, who knows - they may just pip Pakatan Rakyat at the next general election.

It seems it all now depends (humanly speaking) on whether PKR and PAS are really interested in seizing the golden opportunity to govern the nation, in partnership with unswerving and principled DAP. Would a few East Malaysian political parties join forces at a time such as this to broaden the alternative coalition?

Or will PAS and PKR be swayed by and hence join Umno in this one and only issue of contention? It seems that the temperature of the single most divisive issue in Malaysia can only go up going forward.

The perceived ‘divide and rule’ strategy seems to be gaining momentum which, if not stopped, could spell the end of PAS and PKR's political fortune with one devastating master stroke by Umno.

Will Umno succeed? If PAS and PKR are not be politically finished by Umno, then they would need to step up their initiatives quickly to counter Umno's bold moves to win over the Malay-Muslim heartland.

They will need to use their machineries and explain calmly and factually to their respective constituencies and the public at large regarding their common opponents.

The ball is now in PAS and PKR’s court to determine how they will deal decisively on this particular issue.
