First of all, I as a member of the public always believed that bloggers are a group of intellectuals who are brave and risk their lives to expose information for the good of the nation so that we will be a better country and our government of the day will be more accountable and credible.

However, lately, I am disappointed with the behavior of certain quarters of bloggers who seem are being used (or as alleged ‘bought’?) by the some politicians (possibly MCA kingpins?) to kill off opposition within the party for their own benefit.

This is not healthy for the freedom of speech and has lead to a loss of confidence amongst the public including myself in bloggers whom we believed are a source of information to be trusted instead of the mainstream media.

The reason I state this is because all bloggers before publishing any information obtained should at least read and understand what the material is all about. If they do not understand it, they can always consult some professional opinions before starting to shoot their mouths’ off.

I am, of course, referring to reports linking MCA Youth head Wee Ka Siong and Wijaya Baru Sdn Bhd.

1. The Port Klang Free Zone linked company is Wijaya Baru Sdn Bhd (linked to Tiong King Sing)

2. Hijau Sekitar Sdn Bhd (linked to Wee Ka Siong) is only linked to port expansions in Klang.

3. It is not related to PKFZ (which some bloggers are misleading the public into thinking).

Bloggers can mention the link between Tiong and Wee but for goodness sake, get it right. Is the link related to PKFZ?  Be truthful to yourselves, bloggers. Bloggers use their favourite word ‘alleged’ but without justifications which is equally misleading to the public.

With all these reports now on the blogs our neighbouring country will know that our nation may soon extend our port facilities to compete with them. This is like selling information free to other countries.

Some information which is supposed to be the property of the ministry of transport (MoT) or agencies under it, should treat be treated as professional information for the nation and should not be used ‘political assassination’.

Has any probe been done into why this 2005 report (which is entirely not related to PKFZ) surfaces suddenly now during the on-going internal fighting between the MCA president (who is also the transport minister) and the other group (of which Wee is part of)?

Has anyone asked: ‘What a coincidence that someone found this report and then, surprise! the bloggers got it’. We are not kids and we would like to think that it was ‘allegedly’ or ‘accidentally’ given out by the Mot or some MCA kingpins.

Anyway, this is not important. The message I am trying to send to all bloggerse is this - be truthful to what you believe in. Do not be fooled and lured to become ‘tools’ for political gain of certain quarters.

We, the public, trust you all to do the right thing. There is still time to wake up. Bloggers shall report factually without fear and prejudice.
