I refer to the Malaysiakini reports Khalid sues MACC for defamation and MACC drops graft case against S'gor MB, 7 others.

MACC should now apologise to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim as the the former MACC chief once said there was ‘good and strong evidence’ to charge the menteri besar for misusing his powers over the purchase of 46 cows for residents of Bandar Tun Razak which is his constituency.

The nation was shocked to hear the then MACC chief, Ahmad Said Hamdan uttering such a remark which did not augur well with the jurisdiction of his office.

This was, in fact, both a form of a threat and an act of defamation besides an abuse of his power to put an innocent man into great disrepute.

He had said this at a time when the file was still with the Attorney-General’s Chambers and awaiting the decision of the AG whether there was a case or not. As a senior government officer, Ahmad should know that it was not his decision to press charges against Khalid.

Now that the Attorney-General’s Chambers has cleared Khalid’s name, what will be the outcome for Ahmad? Is no action to be taken? It should also be noted that the police were probing the MACC chief under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation.

Can we know what is the outcome of this investigation and whether the guilty party will face the music?
