Much has been talked about the defections of Pakatan Rakyat state representatives and members of Parliament and the curses heaped upon them by frustrated Pakatan supporters and some conscientious ‘rakyat’ and so on.
We all know who is really behind all these happenings. But the rakyat has not realised that a much dreadful ‘earthquake’ will occur if these defections continue meaning. BN could regain their two-thirds majority in Parliament.
BN wants this badly. Think what BN can do once they obtain a two-thirds parliamentary majority. Here are some possibilities:
1. The boundaries of the parliamentary constituencies will be re-drawn to ensure BN retains their two-thirds majority no matter how Pakatan supporters vote in the next general election.
2. And similarly for the state seats with BN winning back the states they lost in the previous general election.
3. The federal constitution may be amended to pre-empt non-Malay non-Muslims from being appointed to the post of prime minister, deputy prime minister, minister and other high-profile jobs. This is to please the ultra-Malays.
4. And so on and so forth.
Pakatan and the rakyat must know this danger and the consequences in the event BN regains its two-thirds majority.
Learn from the history of the Philippines during the late President Marcos' regime and the painful situations they suffered many years after. One would start to imagine that that’s where we are heading to.
May God safe us please.
