I refer to the Malaysiakini report Gerakan: PR's local polls plan 'mere rhetoric' .
I read again of Gerakan's Tan Keng Liang talking about local council elections. This time he is saying that Pakatan Rakyat must arrive at a uniform agreement on local government elections in all its states and not just Penang and Selangor.
Since last week, Tan has been quite persistent in lobbying for these local government elections, even when our Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak already said ‘no way’.
Tan should realise by now that Najib and BN are not interested in local council elections. Gerakan's fight for local council elections is useless.
I would like to suggest to Tan that if he is really sincere in supporting local council elections, he should quit Gerakan and join Pakatan Rakyat.
From what I see, local council elections can only be done if the federal government is changed at the next general election. There is more hope for the third vote by supporting Pakatan Rakyat to win the next general elections.
So, Tan, please don't waste your time with Barisan Nasional if you want local council elections.
