I cannot understand why Pakatan Rakyat is making all this fuss now about the local council election laws.

Obviously, Pakatan would have known of such laws before last general elections when they made their pledge to restore the Third Vote by local council elections.

It is not like the federal laws have changed and stopped Penang from holding local council elections.

So, to people like Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his servants, please stop complaining about the law as if you didn’t know about the existing laws. You have lawyers like Karpal Singh with you.

I am not surprised by Kedah Gerakan Youth Chief Tan Keng Liang’s statement that ‘Pakstan Rakyat leaders must learn that decisions by the EC or any other federal or state authority are bound by the laws of our country’ and ‘Thus, the criticism by Pakatan that the EC is not independent in this issue clearly lacks substance’.

I fully agree with him on this and I would like to also add it is not that Pakatan leaders must learn that the EC us bound by laws but they should stop pretending that they don’t know this.

Penangites have waited for more than two years for Pakatan to hold local polls. So instead of complaining and pretending, Pakatan, especially DAP, must hold the local council elections immediately without any further delay.

Stop giving more excuses. We are tired of your lame excuses. If the Election Commission cannot help to organise these elections, then go and get some other people to monitor it. There are so many other independent watchdogs around the world.
