BN totally afraid of local council elections

I refer to the Malaysiakini report Penang gov't sets up advisory committee on local polls .

Local elections are essential for a healthy and vibrant democracy, where the rakyat have a say in what goes on in their community.

The fact that BN through its agent (the Election Commission) shies away from this simple task is because it does not want to be accountable and transparent to the people for fear of losing its grip on power.

BN will just focus on winning back the current Pakatan Rakyat-controlled state governments through devious means.

Our ratepayers’ monies have gone down the drain with certain irresponsible or lazy local councilors who refuse to be accountable for their actions in the past.

What is the concept of ‘1Malaysia’ if the people do not have a right to a Third Vote? If other developed countries, eg, the UK can have local elections, then why not Malaysia?

Are we taking a step backwards or forward towards Vision 2020?

It seems to me that ‘1Malaysia’ is just a mere rhetoric because we are taking a step backwards by not reinstating local elections which were previously held in the past.

The flimsy excuse that it is a waste of money only exposes BN for their lack of transparency and accountability to the rakyat when they themselves have wasted our monies through corruption and scandals.
