Zaid Ibrahim is indeed a ‘failure’ – he failed to convince his BN cabinet colleagues to uphold justice.
Zaid ‘failed’ to undo what his cabinet colleagues had been doing. Zaid also ‘failed’ badly as he was not a team player – in a game whereby the aim was to gain as much as possible, at the expense of the rakyat – in every imaginable sense and way.
He is indeed a highly principled man, a man of high integrity. Zaid only lasted nine months as he would rather hold his head high and be proud of his principles instead of being in the same league of people who play ball to stay in power. Zaid does not believe in stooping low at the expense of his principles.
He was all out to do a job and he wanted to do it passionately well. But when he found that the whole team was against his well-intentioned reforms, he sacrificed his position and power in return for his honour and integrity.
Therefore, in the eyes of those who played ball in order to stay in power, he was a failure. He was a miserable failure at playing ball with them.
If the people of Hulu Selangor want someone who is bold enough to stand up and face those who are bent on inflicting abuses to the rakyat, Zaid Ibrahim is the man. He has the guts and know-how to face these people.
He will be your strong voice in the new political landscape of Malaysia. When it comes to speaking his mind, he will be a terrific success - though a miserable failure at ‘playing ball’. In other words, he will get things done, both on their local front as well as at the national level.
Getting things done on the local front is a non-issue as the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor government will invariably extend every possible help to ensure its implementation. National issues will be heard in Parliament.
We have seen and heard his voice and views when he was with the government. I would strongly urge all Hulu Selangor voters to give Zaid a resounding win so that his voice will be loud and roaring once again - but this time for their side.
