Keshvinder's defection should be scrutinised

It is a tragedy and embarrassment that one more state assemblyperson from Perak has quit the DAP/Pakatan Rakyat opposition to become a Barisan National-friendly independent assemblyperson.

It is utter foolishness that an educated person like Keshvinder would ever expect the opposition to provide him financial allocation for his constituency.

He has failed to understand that taxes and rates are mostly paid to the federal government and being an opposition-elected representative, he does not enjoy some of the perks and privileges enjoyed by the ruling party politicians.

His reasons for quitting the DAP sound weird and unreasonable. Has he ever raised his problems or that of his constituency with his party colleagues? I doubt he has done that.

Under the circumstances, people like me tend to believe that he was offered something to quit. I am sure the BN Menteri Besar will now give him allocations for projects and contracts to take care of Malim Nawar, which were not forthcoming when he was in DAP. Is this corruption and bribery?

Keshvinder should do some soul-searching, because he cannot escape the spotlight he will be facing. If such acts of betrayal occurred in countries like India or Bangladesh, Keshvinder as well as the three other Perak ‘frogs’ would have been lynched by their constituents.

Malaysians are law-abiding and would ‘lynch’ the wrongdoers and their agents at the next election. The voters and rakyat are not blind folks. Take it from me that the rakyat will decide the fate of those who betrayed the trust that they laid on their elected representatives.
