I am a ardent fan of the talented award winning South Indian actress Asin, who has acted along side some big time superstar heroes of Bollywood and Kollywood. I was upset and furious to learn that certain local Indian NGOs are calling on Tamil and Hindi movie agents and theaters not to support or screen any of Asin's movies in Malaysia.
Apparently the NGOs claimed that Asin's recent visit to Sri Lanka for a film shooting has somewhat offended the sensitivities of the world’s Tamils. It appears that the local NGO is somewhat influenced by events in South India film world.
Why target Asin? The government of India gladly rolled out a red carpet to welcome Sri Lankan president to India recently. Currently the Indian national cricket team is in Sri Lanka for a test match.
What sin or wrong has Asin committed by going to Sri Lanka? Why not protest against the Indian cricket team? It smacks of pure hypocrisy.
Like all other artists in the world, Asin had upheld a dignified and neutral position during her shooting and social visit to Sri Lanka. It is not fair to tarnish this versatile and budding actress image and earnings.
Asin was only performing her professional duties in Sri Lanka as an artist. Please stop bullying a young innocent talented actress by manipulating and linking her visit to Sri Lanka to the recently ended ethnic conflict issue.
If at all as fans we need to send a strong protest message it should be targeted at Bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai Bachan who was reported to have been throwing her tantrums at KLIA VIP lounge recently, when she could not find her favorite white bag.
Apparently, this actress was ‘kicking a big fuss’ for two hours over the missing white bag which was later found to be with one of her minders. It looks like the former Miss World has somewhat lost her charm and demeanor while climbing the ladder of stardom.
She was quoted to have made some unsavory remarks of her fans at KLIA when they went gaga and started clicking away their cameras.
