I read the Malaysiakini report 'Humorous' posting lands blogger in court with total disgust and bewilderment.
We have had the police, AG’s chambers, MACC, Home Ministry and even Mais/MAIWP being used for selective prosecution to further the ruling elite’s agenda.
Now, the MCMC is being roped in to do the same, this must be the brainchild of the Culture and Arts Ministry who have been very cultured and compassionate in the furtherance of the social agenda of Malaysia.
Does anyone think that the humorous article produced has really put Tenaga Nasional in bad light?
Come on, with the frequent complaints about excessive billings, not cutting supplies to those who have raked up thousands if not millions in unpaid bills, one satirical article does not do or create any harm to TNB’s reputation.
This is purely a witch-hunt against the blogger that has been going on for ages. TNB is a big boy; they can take care of themselves and don’t need the statutory protection. The statutory protection is meant for the layman, people like you and I who have no deep pockets or connections to pursue claims against offending bodies.
In the last two years I have filed numerous complaints with the MCMC for action against telcos and television outfits for various matters but nothing came of these. MCMC just works as a ‘postman’ and passes on complaints without resolving them. I doubt if MCMC even is fully aware of their statutory duties.
Alas, who can teach them this other then government themselves but they are the worst culprit.
How about the lady whose SMSes and phone conversation were laid bare on her desk. She had complained before taking legal action but what had the MCMC done? I don’t see them taking proactive action.
The service providers in this case did not deal with the complaint adequately but now have the audacity and cheek to threaten the complainant with legal action for defamation. What did MCMC or the telco did during all this time?
The telco instead says that once the investigation is complete and if the facts suggest that the claim is without basis, Celcom will not hesitate to take all the necessary action to the fullest extent available under the law including an action for libel and abuse of court process.
What have they been doing since March 14 and don’t they know you can’t sue for libel for what has been said in court? These are all threatening big corporation bully tactics and should not be undertaken by corporations essentially owned by Malaysian taxpayers.
Hello MCMC, what are you doing about this which is more harmful then just one satirical article?
It seems selective prosecution and application of the law is the top order of the day, otherwise how do you happen across two similar cases being acted upon differently while our constitution strictly prohibits discrimination in anyway apart from where it is expressly stated in the constitution. Where are all the ministers in defending our constitution now?
