I refer to Malaysiakini report, Zaid leading Nurul into a trap .

The PKR party elections is no different from any other political party's elections with all the scrambling, jostling and fighting tooth-and-nail to secure a nomination for the party's lucrative positions.

The most important outcome of all this should be a party stronger, better prepared and better equipped to face the major challenges ahead. PKR's party elections has never, since its inception, attracted so much of media and public attention and this shows they are a fast upcoming strong force to play a more prominent and decisive role in managing the affairs of the country.

Even the ruling party is seen to try to influence the results of this opposition party for its own survival and future well-being. As the party elections heats up, there will be more vigorous campaigning and attempts to outwit one another to prove who is the better choice. Public and media opinions will also provide an analysis of how the voting should and will eventually turn out to be.

Like all sporting events, this PKR elections should strictly adhere to rule and regulations in order to produce a fair and clean fight. Whatever the outcome of the results, party members must close ranks and be prepared and be willing to move on and not bear grudges or any animosity if the results did not turn out in their favour.

There should not be any appearance of a party being disunited when the final outcome shows that some of the stalwarts have been replaced or sidelined. They must bear in mind that no one is indispensable.

It is not easy to maintain a multiracial structure in the rankings and some groups will be quick to point out of being left out or not being evenly represented. If these people cannot change their mindset to accept a party leader who can and is expected to serve everyone's interests and needs then they are at the wrong place.

The BN culture seems to have made its ugly presence feldt in the run up to this PKR elections and should be the bearing factor. Fifty-three years of such an existence is too long to bear.

When the party elections are completed, PKR must come up with its plans for the future and what it can and will do for the nation if they are given the mandate to govern. The internal squabbling must stop and the party president must ensure unity is reached within the ranks and no more washing of dirty linen in public. The next general election seems quite nearby and if PKR still shows signs of weaknesses, then it will not even be able to retain its present state and federal seats.

PKR has consolidated and built upon its present respectable position due to the strong support and faith placed in them by the rakyat. Therefore, it should not betray their trust. You have achieved what many thought was not possible and you have a very bright future - do not destroy it. And finally, good luck to all aspirants.
