Everyone in Penang is still in a shock over the demise of Lim Chong Eu.

It is a sad day for Penang to have lost our greatest leader and statesman to date.

All sides in the political world in the country have showed their respect for Lim and this is something almost unheard of for most politicians in the country.

As a Penangite, I have only seen the development in Penang arriving from the time of Lim Chong Eu.

Yes, Lim is from Gerakan. But I think since he retired from politics, the future of Gerakan in Penang has been marked with misery.

I blame the leadership of Gerakan under Koh Tsu Koon, who had tainted the name of Gerakan and brought great shame to the party founded by Lim Chong Eu.

At this time, none of Lim Chong Eu's family members are actively involved in Gerakan and many have been known to distance themselves from it.

The disappointment of Penangites over Gerakan's leadership is also shared by Lim Chong Eu's family.

I challenge Gerakan to name any single person of Lim's family who still share the hopes of Gerakan, under current leadership!!! I believe the answer is none.

In the past few months, we also hear another ex-President of Gerakan Lim Keng Yaik who had openly criticised the leadership of Gerakan under Koh Tsu Koon and resign as party advisor.

As a mark of respect for the once great party Gerakan, I think Koh Tsu Koon must as a respect for Lim Chong Eu, resign and pave way for a revamp of Gerakan.

As a Gerakan member in Penang, it will sad if Gerakan will close down after the demise of Lim Chong Eu. May he rest in peace!
