The Malaysian Indians Progressive Association (Mipas) has done survey, studies, and gathered information and feedback from the rakyat, and found that it is not true as what the Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak expressed regarding his confidence that the rakyat’s support for Barisan National (BN) is peaking based on the party’s record of fulfilling its promises.

The rakyat still do not have confidence and full trust in the BN government, as many issues have not been fulfilled or settled. An example is the Lynas issue, another example that Mipas would like to highlight is the anger and frustration of the Chinese community at a rally organised by the United Chinese School Committees Association (Dong Zong) over the shortage of Chinese speaking teachers over the past four decades. The BN government has failed too on Dong Zong’s demands

Mipas strongly believes that as for the Indians community’s issues, Najib’s nambikei (trust) has not fulfilled their needs and requirement, as many of them still without MyKad and birth certificates.

Statistics show that in the government sector job opportunities for the Indians is only 3.2 percent, rightfully by now it should have increased to 7 percent.  Recently the PM announced that the government has promised full scholarships to the top 100 students from the Indian community who graduate with first-class honours from public universities.

But then, how many Indian students are there in public universities? Perhaps less than 100, and only the top 100 get full scholarships. That is just an eyewash, meaning mission impossible, just sandiwara politics of BN the government.

The nation is 54 years into Independence (Merdeka) but why do we still have race or ethnic divisions /segregation? Our votes are equal but when it comes to policy and implementation we are not equal, for an example, the BN government asks Indian voters to support BN but whenever there is an issue of land or acquisition (eg Bukit Jalil Estate), the government says it cannot do anything because it is private land.

Malaysia is so keen to support and even go directly to help the Palestine struggle in the Middle East, yet when it comes to the ethnic cleansing of the Tamilans in Sri Lanka, the BN government abstains itself from voting against Sri Lanka in the UN Human Rights Council resolution against Sri Lanka mooted by the US.

If the BN government remains silent, what does this mean; is the nambikei concept truly sincere?  The BN government goes all over the world against any type of human rights violations in Palestine, South Africa, Somalia, South Thailand and many other countries.

But why when it comes to Sri Lanka the BN government keeps quiet? Will this really instil the confidence of the Malaysian Indians towards the Najib’s nambikei call?

With this in mind, Mipas strongly believes and predicts that BN can expect an easy victory only in Johor, Malacca and Pahang in the 13th general election.
