To all Malaysians of all races and creeds.

Not to the alleged thousands of phantom voters
Regardless of supposed vote buying and scurrilous advertisements;
Regardless of fear-mongering tactics and manipulation of media reports;

This election belongs to the people of Malaysia.

To the millions of rightful citizens journeying home
To cast their vote of choice
To the spirited young and old, planting flowers of spring and hope
Spooking authorities -
That brightly coloured cloth and sticks have such power!
To the hundreds of thousands braving rain and storm to support
A vision of an alternative Malaysia.

This election belongs to the people
To those who vote for change despite threats:
That they will be sent ‘balik India, balik Cina’
That they will lose their pensions
That their flats will be taken back by City Hall.

This election belongs to the people of courage
With a clear vision of who is a turncoat scumbag
And who offers the best chance for a new future.

This election belongs to the people
Like you and me
Regardless of its outcome
And God willing, the people’s will shall triumph.
