While I think Gerakan president Dr Lim Keng Yaik is right in describing the MCA-owned Star as "toilet paper", I have to say he is wrong in attributing the increase in commodity prices to Barisan Nasional or Gerakan.
Rubber, cocoa and palm oil prices are determined principally by the supply and demand in the world market. There have always been ups and downs as the markets of buyers and sellers fluctuate.
If the increase in commodity prices could be attributed to the 'good work' of the government, then it is only fair to attribute the rise in prices of general goods (inflation) to Barisan Nasional or Gerakan as well. Let us be clear on what credit the government and ruling parties can claim, and what they cannot.
