That one single faction in the mono-ethnic Chinese party MCA controls two Chinese and one English dailies, as well as owns two private institutions of higher leaning should be given more serious thought.

Team A MCA is not only in a powerful position to mould public opinion, but also to 'educate' the future generations of Chinese Malaysians. What kind of ideology or worldview MCA is attempting to impart to the readers and tertiary students in TAR College and Utar?

The danger is now exemplified by the fact that Hoong Soon Kean, the editor-in-chief for two major Chinese dailies, could write one editorial that was published simultaneously in the two papers he manages. I am sure come next Sunday, Hoong's line of argument would be repeated and recycled in The Star , the English daily owned by MCA.

Ling is known for having at least political support from Tiong Hew King, the owner of Sin Chew Jit Poh who also owns Ming Pao in Hong Kong and Canada, international Chinese political periodical Yazhouzoukan based in Hong Kong, Sin Chew Jit Poh in Cambodia, English-language

The National in Papua New Guinea. Tiong also has extensive logging and timber interests in Russia, Brazil, Africa, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia (Kalimantan) and Sarawak.

What if this concentrated power of international finance and opinion-moulding is applied by Team A MCA or Tiong or both in areas of public discourses involving foreign or interstate relations and international trade, commerce and security and defence, for their own interests or the interests of some other states or non-state political actors? It is simply dangerous.

The victims of this concentration of power and influence in future may not be confined to only Team B in MCA. It is a cause for national security concern.
