I am a little sad reading the first Shaik Daud's interview on the 'corruption' in the judiciary when Eusoff Chin was chief judge. It is such a pity that a brother judge Syed Ahmad Idid was literally left in the cold which must have proved too much for him and he resigned to prevent further abuse from the state forces.

Shaik Daud did not state whether there are any more 'dirty judges' in the judiciary. I cannot believe that there were just LaminYunus and Eusoff Chin. If there are, we must weed them out.

The exposé of 11 Umno politicians in alleged sex scandals by reformasi websites included the name of a former Melaka chief minister. If this is indeed true, then we have also allowed Lim Guan Eng to be persecuted unjustly such that he lost his seat in Parliament.

Both these issues remain 'unresolved' in the public's eye. Both debilitate our trust in our institutions. These issues relate to the judiciary although in Guan Eng's case, the matter being is related to the power of the attorney-general then. Still both involves the justice system.

Lim Guan Eng's case has to be resolved politically as he had exhausted his legal remedies. Perhaps we should think of picking up this campaign again which had grown a little cold. There is already a change of AG since then.

If Shaik Daud is correct in his views of the Syed Ahmad Idid incident, then the real culprits need to be taken to task even if they have left the judiciary. The matter requires investigation to clear any imputation of disrepute arising out of the Anti-Corruption Agency interrogation of Syed Ahmad Idid. This is another black mark to clear in the rehabilitation of the system.
