Judging from Fariq's letter , we can tell that this person is not interested in an open discussion/debate on the merits and vice versa of the implementation of the hudud (Islamic penal code) laws and its effects on the multiracial population of Malaysia.

His argument is that since it came from God, it is perfect and just. But if one reads and digests the arguments made (by the Muslims themselves) against hudud and other Islamic practices that are deemed to be just on websites like Faith Freedom International , any decent human being would be ashamed by the gross human right violations perpetuated in the name of the religion.

To imply that only the guilty is afraid of the hudud law, exposes Fariq's contempt of the present judicial system as ineffective and unjust. I thought the guilty should be afraid of all laws, and not just hudud .

All said and done, I think we all need to look hard and critically at some of our religious beliefs, especially those that condemn women and non-believers. It is for this reason that we should keep religion out of politics.
