Gajah sama gajah bergaduh, pelanduk mati di tengah-tengah. The political one-upmanship of Umno and PAS for the votes of Malay constituents has regretfully resulted in malaysiakini becoming the sacrificial pelanduk.
It would appear that Umno Youth, worried by being out-Islam-ed by PAS, has switched tactical grounds from religion to ethnicity, by "defending the Malay race".
In your report 'Pemuda Umno mahu malaysiakini diajar memahami soal sensitiviti' this aim was clearly and explicitly enunciated by the statement "Siapa lagikah yang mahu mempertahankan orang Melayu kalau bukan Umno. Tidak mungkin kita dapat mengharapkan PAS untuk mempertahankan maruah orang Melayu".
How far will Umno Youth (and the police) pursue this issue, including prosecuting malaysiakini's editor and staff, depends on how much they can milk the ethnic issue to its political advantage.
Now let us wait for the inevitable, for PAS to up the ante.
