What is most perplexing is Umno Youth's (including Hady Hud's setup

) apparent disinterest in the safety, security and integrity of Malaysia despite their claims otherwise in affairs such as the recent raid o­n malaysiakini .

On Dec 31, Foreign Minsiter Syed Hamid Albar had indicated war with Singapore as a possibility. Umno Youth o­n the pretext of a 'landing' at the disputed islet had a little party at the wharf before dispersing. Then Defence Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced that the Armed Forces needed 12,000 recruits.

Now, I would have thought the Umno Youth would rise to the occasion and take the lead in responding to this appeal and get as many of their members signed up as would be possible.

Instead we have a scenario where they run around trying to feather their nests with inconsequential doings. If they really love Malaysia, as they claim to, they would respond today. Instead of pussyfooting and creating bad blood.
