Gabriel's Extraordinary, unverifiable stories
is the stuff that Malaysians revel in. And rightly so.This shouldn`t be surprising in a nation where the Science Ministry believes that cyclones and typhoons can be 'produced' by new discoveries in science (especially Russian) and then gets the government-controlled mass media to go on a 'drive' to promote the idea so that we 'intelligent' Malaysians will buy the idea.
Of course, it's not the ministry's fault if the idea was later treated with scorn despite the brave attempt by New Straits Times, Star and others.
It is therefore very believable that the interrogators of ISA detainee Saari Sungib made those claims. We cannot forget that satellite tracking of mobile phone calls is possible and have been used to great effect in doing away of 'undesirables'.
Whether the matter is true or not, its extent can only be established through a White Paper which we cannot conceivably expect. So for the moment the benefit of doubt has to remain with the detainee and his claims.
Unless of course the police cooperate.
