I think the reason that Peace Malaysia has been criticised by certain quarters to be aligned to "pro-establishment groups and political parties" is because the organisers of the anti-war movement have allowed Pemuda Umno to appropriate Peace Malaysia's activities and name by seeming to be the o­nly body supporting this movement.

If you watch TV news and read the newspapers, you will think that Peace Malaysia is Pemuda Umno's campaign against war o­n Iraq, without the involvement of other NGOs or parties.

The movement's adviser Lee Lam Thye should not just come out to set the record straight, but to take action by not letting it be looked upon as a Pemuda Umno activity.

He should advise other NGOs to be more active in the movement and not appoint too many Pemuda Umno people into Peace Malaysia's committee.
