I write to comment on Mingguan Malaysia's column by Awang Selamat 'Bisik-Bisik Mingguan', entitled ' Tauke Cina, mesin slot '.

How can a national daily publish such a racist article? As an ordinary Chinese Malaysian - someone who is not a tauke and has no political connection - I feel discriminated against in a country that I have called home for almost 30 years.

I won't bother to defend my Chinese race in relation to the points raised in this article but I just want to point out that for every sin that a Chinese has committed - whether it is bribery or evasion of taxes - there is an equivalent Malay official who is pocketing the bribe and getting rich at the expense of the government.

Awang should have pointed out that no one is above the law and the government has the power to penalise all wrongdoers, regardless of race.

There is no need for Awang to claim that the 'Chinese have broken the law'. What about Tajuddin Ramli, who almost bankrupted Malaysia Airlines - a national asset of all Malaysians - and made millions in the process?

The issue in the case of the Bukit Tinggi resort's slot machines is whether the Berjaya Group has breached the conditions of licence given by the government. Full stop.
