The recent release of six ISA detainees must have been a reason for jubilation to the ISA 7 students. It must have been a rather torrid year for these students, especially the ones who cannot continue their studies or find a job under this testing circumstances.

One of them happened to have been my schoolmate for five years. Sharing the same living facilities at a boarding school with Nik Noorhafizi Nik Ibrahim, I have come to know him as an honest, down-to-earth person, who is always soft spoken and never known to cross anyone.

In the school hockey team, he is the man to stand tough in defence, never shy to assert his responsibility as the central defender. His sheer determination and skills with the hockey stick do the talking for him - perhaps a testament that his action speaks louder than words. Give the man a task and he will diligently complete it.

has done well to highlight the plight of the ISA 7. I strongly urge those who have benefitted directly or indirectly from their actions to return the favour. Job offers or scholarships to fund their studies in private institutions will most likely be of help.

Put to rest any political leanings and concentrate on sorting out the immediate future of this capable young man.

Now that the ISA 6 are out of Kamunting, there has never been more reason to do so. Don't wait for the government to double back on their decisions as this is apparently not the path the ISA 7 have chosen to lead.

Let this be a test of anti-ISA solidarity.

Note: Nik Noorhafizi Nik Ibrahim did not in any way collaborate in the writing of this letter.
