In my humble opinion, while Zunar's equation of Sars with pigs was somewhat unfounded, his cartoon published in Harakah was creative and I am sure he did not mean to insult our PM and the Chinese community.

Cartoons depicting world leaders are regularly published in all types of media around the globe. Even talk shows in US hosted by the likes of Jay Leno and David Letterman regularly make jokes about their presidents, ie President Clinton during the Lewinsky sex scandal.

During the Iraq War, a protestor in Australia displayed puppets of President Bush holding a leash tied to a dog with Australian PM John Howard's head on it (implying Mr Howard is a dog to Mr Bush). We do not see any complaint from these leaders.

In my opinion again, all these are done with some sense of creativity and humour, even though they are not without some kind of protest, and therefore should not be taken as insults. Our Malaysian leaders and the Chinese community should not be too sensitive over such trivial issues.
