Gay Malaysian tries to convince us that it is okay to be a sexually active gay and a Christian. How contradictory. It is like saying I want to join Alcoholics Anonymous but I still want to get drunk.

I suppose if we let people decide their rules then there is no need to argue. To each their own. Everything is relative. Why heed religious teachings?

But in religion there are absolutes. It is clear what is morally wrong or right. For example, the Ten Commandments dictate what is wrong or right. It is not a question of interpretation but acceptance. If we don't accept a religion's teachings we should not claim we belong to it.

Every sinner knows that to become a Christian is to turn away from sin and turn to God. One has to be blind or brazenly rebellious to ignore such clear teachings in the Bible against homosexuality.

Many do not want to become Christians because they do not accept the Bible's teachings. At least they are honest. They didn't demand the Bible be changed to suit them. So, if gays want to make their own rules why bother with Christianity? Why don't they create their own religion?

The Apostle Paul warned Christians against heretics: "who will gather around themselves preachers who will tell them what their itching ears want to hear."

Rather than criticise Malaysian and Singaporean Christians, who have a tradition of following sound Biblical teachings, Gay Christian should read the Bible's teachings against homosexuality and edify himself. It is not too late.

Is it because he cannot accept the Bible's teachings against homosexuality that he advocates the "latest Western biblical scholarship" which is nothing new but an age-old heresy that has been going on for some time. Incidentally, it is only a minority view held by members of the gay movement in churches that place men's ideas above the Bible. One needs to know that the militant gay movement has a well-organised political agenda that will not stop until they get what they want.

In the ancient church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul warned against all forms of evil including homosexual sins. "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? ... Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:11.

Paul warned against an active homosexual lifestyle. God forgives all sinners including repentant homosexuals but condemns homosexual acts. I know of many homosexuals who after becoming Christians are now happily married and are no longer practising homosexuals. It is a matter of choice. Remember the highly publicised gay lover of a famous gay Hollywood actress who left her to marry a male? So much for being born a gay.

There is a world of difference between a Churchian who follows a church's heretical teaching and a Christian who honours God's word. Not all who go to church are Christians.

Psychiatrists are not agreed on homosexuality. It is misleading to quote sources to only support one's views as Gay Christian has done. Space does not permit me to elaborate alternative views so the conscientious seeker of truth should do a more scientific and thorough self study.

However, it is neither helpful to condemn homosexuals outright or to condone homosexuality as an active lifestyle. We should be aware that anything that is over-politicised like the gay agenda tends to be counter-productive in the long term.

Science has debunked claims of a 'gay gene'. Kendall and Zealy in Companion to Psychiatric Studies write: "exclusive homosexual preference appears to be a uniquely human phenomenon... this would suggest that, whereas biological factors may influence whether homosexual activity occurs, the establishment of an exclusively homosexual orientation is probably the result of social learning."

When Gay Christian writes, "unfortunately, the most recent biblical scholarship in the West is still largely unavailable to newly growing churches in Asia and Africa," who is he kidding? The majority of Christians in Malaysia whether Catholics or Protestants reject same sex relations outright based on the Bible's teachings.

The Bible is the best scholarship on the matter and it condemns same sex relations, period. No ifs, no buts. There is no "most recent biblical scholarship" as if it is an upgrade of superior software, only apostasy from the West.

If Gay Christian really understands the Chinese approach to sex he should accept that even the earliest Chinese frowned upon homosexuality. I have no doubt homosexual relations existed in ancient times, including China, but is there convincing proof that the behaviour was not just a clandestine activity among libertines?

For example, Taoist physicians considered homosexuality among men (not women) a dangerous practice based on yin and yang principles. In homosexual sex one has to play the role of male and the other female and this affects their psychology over time.

To quote Daniel Reid in 'A Modern Practical Guide to the Ancient Way', "the greatest threat posed to men by homosexual practices are physiological...ancient Taoist physicians noted a pathological condition called the 'Dragon Yang Syndrome' which occurred exclusively among promiscuous male homosexuals...Symptoms of this ailment included weakness and fatigue, skin ulcers and boils, low immunity, and impotence."

Gay Christian who pleas for understanding should understand that Christians who honour the Bible are obliged to obey it. When they condemn homosexuality it is not they but God who first condemned it.

Gays who refuse to accept sound advice have a quarrel with God, not Christians. Hate the sin but love the sinner is still the Christian's norm.

That Gay Christian has a happy, monogamous relationship with another man - one which perhaps surpasses many heterosexual relationships - does not make it right in God's eyes. Christians have no quarrel with gays and Christians should not be criticised for faithfully defending God's teachings.
