Once again government officials and ministers are confused over the issue of 'Islamic state'. This time it is the banning of tudung labuh Mara Junior Science colleges from next semester onwards.

As a non-Muslim, I am totally confused about how the Barisan Nasional government is handling its religious matters. Wearing the tudung labuh has been encouraged from the tender ages of pre-school and now suddenly you want women to take it off. Why? Isn't it the right of the Muslim ladies to wear the tudung labuh? This is not a matter of religion alone, it is also a matter of their freedom to cloth themselves. Mara, being a higher education platform for Muslims, should be encouraging this.

From what I had mentioned in my previous letter on the concerns by Women and Family Development Minister Shahrizat Abu Jalil's that the PAS government was spending RM60,000 on roadshows to educate the Muslim women on dressing, this is just another example on how confused the ministers are after our beloved Dr.M insisted that we are an Islamic state. This time it is the Entrepreneur Development Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz, who is in the Mara board.

As usual the people who make this decision will point their fingers upwards and the top person will say that he/she is unaware of such decisions or that there has been a miscommunication down the line. I am almost certain that Nazri will be coming up with a fire-fighting strategy soon.

Perhaps the PAS government should extend their roadshow to BN ministers in order for them to clearly understand the teaching of Islam that is so freely mentioned by the government when it gets closer to the general election.

Pak Lah, it looks like you have more things to worry about then your ministers telling the truth. Firstly, do they themselves know what is the truth? If you would like to be the 'ace' in playing the political deck, then I guess you will have to get rid of the 'jokers' first.
