I have been following the strange matter of the double tracking contract/electrification works with some amazement. I now term the matter as 'The Double Talking Contract'.
One cuts a deal with two sovereign governments who buy RM5 billion worth of palm oil annually, which is so fundamental of our export economy, and make them conduct all the tests, prepare the designs, etc, and then tell the sovereign governments: thank you but no thank you!
Then the present local fellows, DRM Hicom who have been doing a fairly good job (all things considered) are told to stand down for the new kid on the block.
The newcomer, who has absolutely no soul for the railway business - its strictly money as the bottom line - then gives local fellows five days to accept a subcontract, on terms & conditions that would run them and the project into the ground. A case of murid makan cikgu .
The Railway Union of Malaysia has from the days of its formation been looking after the needs and requirements of KTM workers. Most importantly, RUM has ensured and provided the most excellent services to all of us. Thank you employees and workers of KTM. As members of the public, we must show our full hearted support for the union.
