In respond to Victor Lee's ' To deny the Jews their homeland is to deny history ', I wish to express my disagreement to his statement. Mr Lee, what about Arab Palestinian's history? Don't they have the right to stay in their ancestral land as well?
The reality we witness in the past century is that large number of foreigners swamped the land called Palestine and resulted in the loss of homeland of millions of indigenous Palestinians. I see no justification for this. Why should Arab Palestinian lose their homeland, their place of birth, their rights to live as equal to everyone else because of the racism and pogroms instilled on the Jews by Europeans?
It is very sad to read what the Jews had experienced in the past 2,000 years in Europe. This is exactly why we should prevent the same from happening on Arab Palestinians. In fact this is actually happening, since Palestinian refugees are seeking the rights to return to their homeland. Sounds familiar? I wonder what will happen if Mongolian and Manchurian Chinese migrate en masse into Russian Siberia, claiming that's their ancestral homeland and seeking the rights to return.
Should the 300 million white Americans, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders be granted the rights to return to Europe? Should the 50 million overseas Chinese be allowed to return to the People's Republic of China (and yes, some did suffer racism, discrimination, torture and mass killing in their respective countries)? Should every human being be allowed to return to Africa, since it's the birthplace of all mankind? From different perspective, should all non-native Americans be 'transferred' out of the country, since the entire continent belonged to native Americans?
We cannot change the history, but we can avoid the mistakes made by our ancestors. Today we simply cannot dismantle the state of Israel and kick all Jews into the sea. But we can help the two ethnic groups - Arabs and Jews - to reconcile and live side by side peacefully and equally. Building fence around West Bank and Gaza strip, and building Jewish settlements inside the occupied territories don't help. And making millions of people living in refugee camps, or in exile, or in humiliation, is surely not helping either.
