The government has banned cigarette advertising on TV? At least that's what we are led to believe.

But there is a cigarette advertisement that is being shown on TV3 almost everyday at about 9.15pm - a game show called 'The A Challenge: Sempurnakan hidupmu'.

There's nothing wrong for a television station to air game shows. But the colours and logo of this particular show are somewhat similar to those found on the packet of a particular brand of kretek (clove) cigarettes imported from Indonesia called 'Sempoerna A'.

What I suspect is that the station and its advertisers are trying to hoodwink the public and authorities by continuing to promote such a cigarette brand in a subtle but crude way.

Therefore I hope the public and authorities will take a serious look at the above-mentioned advertisement to see if the game show is indeed promoting kretek cigarettes.
