I refer to CKL's letter, ' AirAsia: Different folks, different fares' posted on Jan 8 regarding the advertisement debate . I do not profess to have all the answers. However trying to equate different rates to one's skin colour is, I feel, is tantamount to scraping the barrel of rational thinking.

Did CKL check with other passengers on the date and amount they paid for their tickets? I do not pretend to know AirAsia's ticketing and pricing policy. But perhaps they have a mechanism in place that would explain the varying rates.

For example, prices may start low for a fixed number of tickets, increase when there is a demand and/or the low priced tickets are sold out, and/or fall again when there are unsold tickets prior to the flight departure date.

That's a possibility, isn't it? CKL could have been the first person to buy the normal priced tickets, and made observations with people who happened to have bought cheaper tickets, and were also Malays!

But as I said, I don't have all the answers. What I do know is that we need to direct our efforts to finding ways to dismantle racial barriers, not leap to conclusions that build more barriers.
