It would be interesting to see if Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi now walks the talk and brings to closure the logging scam in Pahang.

It is obvious that there will be some Umno heavy weights involved; the question is, does Pak Lah have the political will and strength to do what he has been saying: "No to corruption".

If he does nothing, the rakyat will see all his rhetoric as mere lip service, and the sacking of a town councillor or the rebuke of a custom's officer is but eye wash.

There is obvious impropriety and abuse of power. The contractors have cried foul and have provided clear documentary evidence of impropriety. The police should be able to act quickly in their investigation unless of course this is another case that is going to drag on for years and then closed when the public forgets.

I believe the last finance minister was prosecuted within a month and severely punished for abuse of power under the Mahathir administration. Will there be the same sort of intolerance for this under the Abdullah administration? Somehow, I believe this status quo of a prime minister will not be able to do the right thing.
